I rate ruby, and then rails, so easy to understand, huge community that's very helpful, lots of startups use Ruby on Rails, so work is easy to find. I started in Jan learning html, css, JavaScript, then Ruby on Rails, and I got a great job last month? But just expose yourself to many languages and libraries, most apps contain like 3 - 4 languages so the more you know the better! Hope this helps?

you can learn any programming language you want. I would suggest you research which type of language is best suited for the things you want to do then learn that language.
