I've been tweeking with web design for the last several years. I am interested in becoming a true professional. Should I start with the web designer learning adventure then Web Developer or does it matter. Developer is missing Javascript and a few other foundational things that I think it's important for a Developer to have. I am interested in becoming a skillful developer. Which is the best way to go.

29,275 PointsFirst Web Designer, then PHP Developer, and finally Web Developer.
The reason for this order is because the first one takes you through HTML and CSS which are pretty basic, then it takes you through JavaScript which is another one of the languages that works along with HTML and CSS to make websites.
PHP is next because it is more widely used than Ruby on Rails and Web Developer doesn't teach that.
Web Developer is last because it teaches one of the most powerful and complex languages of these five, but it is last because RoR is a new language and not as well known and most of the prebuilt websites that you will be working with will be in PHP.
How that helps.
