Design Adobe Illustrator for Web Design Creating a Wireframe Adding Type

Which preference do I need to change so that when I am using the basic select arrow tool I can adjust the size of shape?

For example, when trying to resize the bounding box for the header 1 text in this video about adding type, I click on the box, but the boxes in the corner are not live and cannot be used to adjust the size of the box without also changing the size of the text.

Hi John, Did you try hitting V for the Selection tool (black arrow) instead of the Direct Selection tool (white arrow). Hope this helps!

Just had this issue! You have to go to "Type" at the top menu and click "Area Type Options" and resize it there. Eeeew
