I'm a big fan of Espresso (paid). But really, anything that has basic syntax highlighting (color highlighting that shows different parts of your code in different colors) should work fine, and you can always change tools in the future. A lot of people like Coda 2 (paid), or Sublime Text (free initially, though you are supposed to buy it eventually). I've also used TextWrangler in the past (free https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textwrangler/id404010395?mt=12), though I much prefer Espresso overall.

Even TextEdit in plain text mode can work in a pinch. Your knowledge of coding is a lot more important than the exact tool you use, though obviously some tools make things easier than others.

I haven't really heard anyone talk about brackets. I think it's the best so far, the live preview is great.

Hi, I never heard of this before. As you mention it and I've checked it out, it's pretty awesome. Thanks a lot for mentioning this.

It really comes down to personal preference. Personally I use sublime text 3. Ive use Coda 2 and Diet Coda( there iPad version) in the past, Great apps. If your only going to do Web stuff Coda maybe the way to go for you.

I was a huge fan of the TextMate 2 Alpha, but I've recently ditched that for a text editor built by GitHub called Atom. Both of those are free
