Why am I able to up vote my own post?

I think this feature should be disabled (regarding the user to up vote their own posts)

I would agree, but I do find that on a lot of other forums. I never understood why.

I don't know why they do it... but I would. Then, I'd filter out the users who would up vote their own posts all the time, order them in a list and ban the top ten every month. It's a great way to sort the egotistical users, and give them less of an ability to praise themselves. lol
