why are block and inline element important

I just need to know why the block and inline element important I don't understand

Block and inline elements are important because they help dictate how your elements are displayed within the browsers.

Block elements, such as divs, create an element that will span the entire width of the element its in. Inline elements, such as anchor tags, keep the content flow intact.
