Why can't I make brackets or curly brackets in Workspace

I am doing the python basic course. While doing so I expirience the following problem:

Whenever I try to type brackets or curly brackets in work space I dont get what I want but instead I get parenthesis with arg: written in it. Like this (arg:89) I can't do any special characters. I just get (arg: and then the actual number. Does anybody know why this happens?

I already asked the support and was told to ask the question in the forum.

Hi Aris,

Have you tried restarting your computer since this problem began? And are you able to copy and paste in curly brackets or hard brackets that have been typed elsewhere? {} []

Hi Evan

Thank you for your good questions. I tried restarting and this didn't change anything. Funny enought I can't coppy {} and [] into the workspace.
