Why can't I overwrite the bootstrap accordion style?

Ok so I have a basic accordion that I grabbed off the bootstrap site. I am trying to change the color of the .panel-heading inside the div and for some reason I cannot for the life of me overwrite it in my style.css. (Unless I go in the bootstrap CSS itself)

My accordion:

and this is how I tried to change the color:

div[class="panel-heading"] {
background:#2ecc71 !important;
}

this wont work either

.panel-heading {
background:#2ecc71 !important;
}

not even the !important call is making a difference and this is not the first time that Iv had difficulties overwritting the bootstrap style. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?

Forgive me if this is an obvious question, but did you properly link your style.css in the header of the page?

Yup <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css"> and I called it after the bootstrap.min.css so that it overwrites. Still nothing. I even tried giving my own class along with the .panel-heading

WOW cot the mistake. I had called a media query style before calling that .panel-heading style but I forgot to add the closing } on that media query. Which is why it's good practice to call media queries LAST lol
