Why didn't the Instructor add a pointer to the object NSUInteger? Like (NSUInteger *)

The instructor wrote the method as:

-(instancetype) initWithIndex:(NSUInteger) index

Shouldn't it have been:

-(instancetype) initWithIndex:(NSUInteger *) index

If not why? NSUInteger is an object not an primitive. Why did this work without it?
