Why do we have to add the 'element' nil when creating an NSMutableDictionary?

For example,

NSMutableDictionary *testDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:@5, @"burgers", @3, @"shakes", nil];

Is that part of the syntax?

I am sure there is a technical reason for it but, for the rest of us, it is just part of the syntax - we just do it! :wink:
