Why do Xcode playgrounds freeze and crash so frequently?

I've been working on the swift and iOS track and keep running into issues with Xcode playgrounds freezing and crashing every 15 or 20 minutes. I'm not doing anything advanced, just playing around with the beginner basics. I'm using the latest version of OS X Yosemite and Xcode 6.4.

Is this normal for Xcode to crash all the time? Anyone else have these problems or know how to fix it?

Delete and re-install, and see if problem persists.
