Why does the header appear move back and forth when you click between 'portfolio' and 'about'

Why does the header appear move back and forth when you click between 'portfolio' and 'about' if the 'selected' class only has a color value and no padding, margin, or spacing properties?

It probably has something to do with the vertical scroll bar. This will trigger a "shifting" of about 20px (roughly the width of it).

You can force it on at all times by setting the following:

html { overflow-y: scroll; }
