Why does this does not work? var number = 6; alert('string ' + number + );

But it works if I add another string after the + number +.

The extra "+" produces a SyntaxError. Remove it to have the following:

var number = 6;
alert('string ' + number);

Now I know. I thought it is constant that I need it to be in between two +'s if I want it to be added in a string. Thanks a lot Evans!
