Why does treehouse have a hamburger menu if nick Pettit hates it?

First off I am not criticizing the site. I actually like how it looks and works(expect on iPhones we need an app for it). In several treehouse show episodes nick always tells us why he hates them and that we should avoid using them and yet treehouse uses them. I understand he may not have designed the site but I just wanted to see what nick thinks as well as everyone else. I was just curious about this. It may also be that I misunderstood him and he meant that they are a bad idea on desktop sites and not on mobile ones.

Jovanny Elias - I was wondering why Treehouse would have a sandwich menu until I started reading Nick Pettit's reply.

Hi Jovanny,

Great question! I personally don't like hamburger menus for the reasons mentioned in this article. I feel like the space they save isn't always worth the friction of an extra tap. They're good in some instances, but their popularity has led to some bad implementations.

Design is a subjective medium, so my own opinion is going to be different than the next person's opinion. Like you said, I didn't design the site, so there's probably a lot of smart decisions that I'm just not aware of. I don't use Treehouse on a mobile phone too often, but the times that I have, I've enjoyed it. :)

Thanks for the response. I can see what you mean and the article does make a lot of sense. The way it's on treehouse I actually like. The only reason I don't really like the mobile site is because when ever I do any code challenges or write post on the forum the top navigation moves down the screen leaving less room to review what I wrote. It's not until I press done to stop typing that it goes away. Also after watching a video I can't click on the next video link, I have to scroll down and hit the next arrow in the bottom. Aside from that it's great.

Thanks for clearing that up I was a little curious on what you thought about it.
