Why has my button not matched the parent even though I pressed the toggle button?

I am using my phone to run the app as the emulator is so slow. The Start button has not fully matched the parent even though I have followed the videos correctly. Also the Edit Text field seems to have the Signals from Mars picture color behind it. Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong?
