Why "import React, {Component, PropTypes} from 'react';" and not simply "import React from 'react';"?

Am I right in thinking that you're just pulling in particular things from React (in this case: Component and PropTypes) as opposed to everything which React contains?

The {Component, PropTypes} part lets you refer to those two parts without prefacing them with React. (i.e., Component vs. React.Component) You can also use anything else in React by using React.Something.
