why is it not working?

def loopy(items): # Code goes here for item in items: print(item)

    if item  == 'STOP':
        break
breaks.py
def loopy(items):
    # Code goes here
    for item in items:
        print(item)

        if item  == 'STOP':
            break

Hi Ian

Perform the check before you print each item. The way your logic works not it will print 'stop' and then break, the challenge wants you to break soon as it sees the string 'stop'. See below

def loopy(items):
    # Code goes here
    for item in items:
        if item=='STOP':
            break
        print(item)
