Why is this important? Where is the context?

Hi! What is the significance of this? The video gives no context and just jumps right into it. How does this benefit us as FEWD? Also, these terms have never been mentioned before and it just assumes we know how to explain a GUI to someone? I didn't even know what a GUI was before this video.

The GUI and the terminal both gives users way to interact with the Operating System, basically the computer. The GUI is the Graphical User Interface. It's more intuitive to use, you have nice icons and can click on things with the mouse, but you can't do as much with it. It's perfectly fine for the average user. The only way to interact with the terminal is to type in it. To use it you have to learn a bunch of commands and it's much easier to really mess things up with your computer, but it also makes it easier to control your computer. Honestly, though, I'm not sure it's all that necessary for a FEWD to learn it.
