why isnt this code working???

not sure where this is going wrong???

I think you just have to put everything on the same line in the var username directly.

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

Yep thats one way or I ended up breaking it down by doing:

userName += "#"; userName += lastName.toUpperCase();

but thanks for the help!

The object of this challenge is to know how to concatenate variables and strings together to create a new variable. Antoine's example is generally considered best practice, and should be used for this challenge. There are other ways to achieve the same goal, but in this case, Antoine's is the best answer.
