Why myHeading doesn't turn red?

I followed the instructions and created exactly the same code as per example, that's my code - no idea what's wrong, could you please help?

const myHeading = document.getElementById("myHeading");

myHeading.addEventListener("click", () => { myHeading.style.color = "red";
});

your code works - maybe you have typo in your html? Check the h1 id.

I had the same problem, and then I noticed that <script src = "app.js></script> (in index.html) was missing its other quotation mark, like how I've typed it here. Since we had to create the app.js file and add the script tag ourselves, it is easy to miss something like closing brackets or the other closing quotation mark.
