Why the Slow Loading Time?

I noticed this when the CSS course was covering web fonts, too. When I go to Google Fonts and make the exact same selections as Mattox, his loading time is barely affected, while mine goes straight to slow.

Any idea why this is? Are there other factors that can affect one's loading time? Does Google factor Ireland's often crap internet speeds into the equation?

Hey Padraig Fagan,

I think Google Fonts has been updated since the video so it's probably calculating it differently. Also the font may have been updated since the video, and be bigger in size now so Google is factoring that in.

I don't think Google uses where you're located to base it. The reason I think this is because the font will be used on your site, and Google don't know where your audience are from.

Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Kind regards, Ash
