Create a TO-DO List

todo_list = []

def show_help(): # print out instructions on how to use the app print("What should we add to the list?") print(""" Enter 'DONE' to stop adding items. Enter 'HELP' for this help. Enter 'SHOW' to see your current list. """)

def show_list(): # print out the list print("Here's your list:")

for item in todo_list:
    print(item)

def add_to_list(new_item): # add new items to our list todo_list.append(new_item) print("Added {}. List now has {} items.".format(new_item, len(todo_list)))

def close(): exit()

show_help() while True: new_item = "> " # Quit App if new_item == 'DONE': break elif new_item == 'SHOW': show_list() elif new_item == 'HELP': show_help() elif new_item == 'EXIT': close() continue add_to_list(new_item)

show_list()

What error are you getting?

Hi Gourav Nagar, I've made two edits to your code. One of them was just practicality, bu the other was a missing input; that may have been your problem. Hopefully this sets you back on track.

todo_list = []

def show_help():
    # print out instructions on how to use the app
    print("What should we add to the list?")
    print("""Enter 'DONE' to stop adding items.
Enter 'HELP' for this help.
Enter 'SHOW' to see your current list.""")

def show_list():
    # print out the list
    print("Here's your list:")

    for item in todo_list:
        print(item)

def add_to_list(new_item):
    # add new items to our list
    todo_list.append(new_item)
    print("Added {}. List now has {} items.".format(new_item, len(todo_list)))

show_help()
while True:
    new_item = input("> ")  # Adding input() is fairly important
    if new_item == 'DONE':
        break
    elif new_item == 'SHOW':
        show_list()
    elif new_item == 'HELP':
        show_help()
    elif new_item == 'EXIT':
        exit()  # close() is unnecessary
    else:
        add_to_list(new_item)

show_list()
