Why was a max-width of 940px used, as opposed to 720px for example? Is that a standard or purely personal preference?

Hi Zobia!!

Yes I believe it is a personal preference and it depends on how you want the website to be viewed over different media.. I don't think the px values really has a symbolic value to it.. Hope this helped!
