Why was the teacher allowed to upload the site to www.example.com without paying for domain name and hosting first?

I thought you needed to pay for domain name. and also, does that mean that anyone who visits www.example.com would see her site?

I don’t think those are the actual server details she used. I think she just put those in the pop up window as an example, otherwise we’d all have her FTP details and could wreak havoc on the server.

So there was an actual domain that she paid for but she hid it from us and masked it with a "www.example.com"?
