HTML HTML Video and Audio (Retired) Custom Media Players Using Default Skins

Why, when using the TED skin, do the normal HTML api captions show as well as the mediaplayer.js version?

When adding the class into the workspace for the TED skin, after playing the video and moving the mouse away, so that the controls automatically hide, two sets of captions are shown on the video.
