Android Build a Simple Android App (2014) Testing and Debugging Making a Toast

why wont it work?

I have tried using the examples from other questions, still to no avail

Toast allDoneToast = Toast.makeText(this, "All done!", Toast.LENGTH_LONG);
//Toast.makeText(this, "All done" Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
Toast welcomeToast = Toast.makeText(this, "Look at me up here!", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();

Hi there,

For the last line, you don't want to assign it to a variable name. Delete Toast welcomeToast = and you should be fine.

Just call the toast and show it. There's no need to assign it to anything.
