Why www.mysite.com won't redirect to my domain?

I purchased a domain on goDaddy and hosting on Webhostingforstudents

My basic wordpress site was installed, and you can take a look how it it works on the url : wo1v3r.com

however when I add www. before that, it won't work.

? :(

Cleared my cache, and when I retry it works now but redirects to only: wo1v3r.com in the address bar.

How to I get it to show this: http://www.wo1v3r.com

? :)

If I am not mistaken, you can do this from your wordpress dashboard.

Go to the dashboard, then look for settings> general. From there, you should be able to find a field called site address url or wordpress address url. Changing one of the two to www.yoursite.com should fix it for you. Let me know if this works!

Cheers.

I do want to add that today, most people actually wish to remove the www. because it isn't actually required anymore, and also looks cleaner without it. Of course, it is up to your preference, but just thought I'd let you know :)

Any SEO aspects to it Sanjay?

Thanks for your help :)

No problem at all Johnathan!

From the little SEO that I do know, it's the name of the site rather than the www. part which is taken into account.

For example: www.mysite.com, only the mysite.com portion will affect SEO.

It would be better to ask someone who is more knowledgeable than me on this one though. Did my previous explanation for changing the www. section work for you?

Yes thanks alot Sanjay but I reverted it back, just needed to know everything is o.k with my Domain :)

Fantastic! Glad I could help. Btw, if you don't mind, could you choose my answer as best answer? I get a few points for that. Cheers!

That's strange. I'm typing in the "Add an Answer" section, and not clicking on add comment. Not sure why that's happening lol. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
