Wire frame front end devlopment

In one of the courses nick draws a wireframe to begin building a website. I know nothing about making wire frames am I supposed to do this also or is that voluntary

Creating wire frames is a good idea when designing website--especially to work out the design of responsive sites--but if you're watching Nick's introductory website video, then you're not required to create a wire frame for the site you'll be working on. Nick is just showing that this is typically a part of the web design process.

lol yeah I know nothing about designing I just want to learn how to code.

Wire frames are part of a planning stage. You can do them with a pen and paper, grey markers - sketch type or use some fancy sogtware like Balsamiq Mockups. wire frames
