WordPress Featured Images on Posts

I'm trying to display a featured image in the excerpt of each post, instead of requiring the viewer to click on the post to see the image. Is this theme-specific or general? I'm running a child theme of Phogra.

How and if featured images are displayed at all are dependent on the theme. So either look for a particular theme with the right features or change the CSS to show featured images in that child theme. The Wordpress Theme course should give guidance in that direction.
