WordPress The WordPress Template Hierarchy How WordPress Templates Work Walkthrough of Example Site

Wordpress Install Issue

"The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature"

Installing template heirarchy theme issues. I unzipped the folder containing the them then removed the theme folder. I then re-zipped the theme folder and tried to install it to Wordpress. It did not work. I got the error at the beginning of this message. What am I doing wrong?

If the theme is zipped, make sure its only the actual theme folder directly inside the zip and it's not in a subdirectory. you could also place the folder directly in your theme subdirectory wp-content/themes/put-your-theme-here

I got an error too when I tried to upload the .zip through the admin panel. I unzipped the project files folder and dragged the template-hierarchy folder into the themes folder in my WordPress install. Now it works.

I figured it out. turned our I archived the folder rather than zipping it. I can build a website, but don't ask me how to compress a folder. :P
