WordPress Photo Gallery for Portfolio

Hello you all.

I have to present a project with 4 different categories:

when I click one of the categories, the page must shows up a portfolio for every single category, so, one portfolio (image gallery) per category .

And I do not have an idea how to start, is there any tutorial or you guys can save my life on this one?

Thanks in advanced.

You can list the categories and then show all the posts specifically when clicked. If all the posts are image types, wordpress should have some default formatting for those.

So you add work, personal, etc to the default list of wordpress categories, then assign those to the image posts.
