Wordpress Track - Track Change

Hi,

I am a new member ( signed in like 5 min. ago) and Interested in PHP, javascript and finally wordpress. However, under the track there is just one simple wordpress course like "learn wordpress". In the library there are lots of tracks but they are not in order like a path. I can find many online resources like these but if there is not a path offered here, what is the point? How can I decide which track I will start after I finished one. Or does this track include all the parts of the wordpress? Confused.

Second concern is the track change. Let's say that I want to learn PHP and javascript at the same time. Should I always make the switch? Is there any help file that explains it?

Thanks

Hi Yalin,

Welcome to Treehouse! Taking courses on this website has been a great experience for me and I hope you get a lot out of it too.

The most important question is what are you looking to get out of Treehouse? Are you brand new to computers and you want to learn from scratch or do you just want to target certain areas to help you build your own projects more quickly?

The nice thing about Treehouse is that you can watch videos in any order. You don't have to follow a track at all. If you do decide to follow a track, I've found that the staff orders the courses very well. The courses in the tracks start off super simple at first and then gradually get more complex as you go along.

If you're brand new to WordPress, start with the Learn WordPress track. There are four courses to complete in that track. The first course goes over the basics of what WordPress is and how it compares to other CMS(content management system) websites. In the second course you have to install WordPress on your own computer. That will help you follow along with the lessons as you complete that course and the courses that follow.

For the tracks, here's a trick: don't choose a track until you're almost done with the course list. For example, say you choose to take the courses in the Learn WordPress track. You complete the first 3 courses and you have one more to go. Once you have completed those first 3 courses, choose Join Track on the Learn WordPress page, and then complete the last course. Then you'll get the points for completing the track.

Also, look at the Treehouse library to see other courses available for the subjects you like. As an example, if you choose WordPress on the library page, you may see courses and workshops that are not on any track at all but are very helpful.

Good luck and happy coding!
