Wordpress Tutorials - flexslider error

I have been following the wordpress tutorial on how to create a theme and i am running the latest version of wordpress locally but i have followed the steps and even downloaded the files yet i still get an error 'Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'flexslider'

does any one know what this is please?

It's likely due to the changes in FlexSlider since the project release. There are a few patches in the forums that should help :)
