Work Experience

Hi I have completed the TeamTreehouse 'Front End Web Development' track and am thinking of looking for work. I'm not entirely confident in my ability so I thought a bit of Work Experience would be a good idea. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I should go about this? Just send emails to companies??? In case this is relevant I live in the UK. What have other people done to get started in the working world?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hey Elizabeth,

I got into my first job through an apprenticeship! May I ask how old you are? also where are you based? I know a few companies who might be able to help you depending on you age and location feel free to email me if you don't feel comfortable posting on here my email tomtucka@gmail.com

Hi would you be able to give me the names of the companies and I can look at their websites to find out more about them? I live near Heathrow Airport. Do you know what age group they offer apprenticeships too?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Elizabeth, Thinks its 16 -20

Hi Elizabeth,

Work experience is always valuable, so building your portfolio could be a great asset for you. Perhaps check with friends and family who might have use for a website to see if you could build one for them. Contributing to some open source projects is another great way to start to develop real world experience.

Thanks for your comments. I am in the process of building a website for a friend of mine who is an artist. I have also built a website about myself and what I have been learning through Treehouse. Contributing to some open source projects is a good suggestion, I think you can do that through Github?
