Working at Google or Microsoft or Apple

I camed across a question and it had my interest so the question is :

"If you work for a major tech company like Microsoft or Google, do you have to sign a non-competitive contract (I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but) what are the usual conditions? Are you able to work for another company after X years?

I just feel like singing such a contract might lead to a very unhappy life. What if I don't like working at Microsoft but would love it at Google?"

I feel like this may be a 'cross that bridge when you come to it' sort of question - have you been offered such a job?

What do you mean a cross?
No its not. I was checking other forum somewhere else and i saw this question asked many years ago but it got my interest and i was just wondering . I put it in quotes as somebody else : p

Sorry my vain attempt at humour I think!

I don't have an answer but certainly with any major company you would need to sign quite severe non-disclosure forms which will probably be in effect even after you've left.
