Working on a wordpress theme using mamp but I just got a HTTP error 500 localhost page isn't working.

I was working on this yesterday and was working fine but today I tried to work on this through mamp and clicked to go to the wordpress local install and I get 'localhost page isn't working' localhost is currently unable to handle this request. How do I fix this?
