Working standing up

I'm working and studying while sitting, like most people. Its feels bad to me.. Neck pain, back pain, muscle imbalance, can't concentrate and many other things .. So I was thinking maybe start working while standing (logistically I can do this). Any one here doing this? Any thoughts?

I have a standing desk that I use at my current day job, and I hope to get one at home, too. I highly recommend it. You need one that can easily convert back to a sitting desk since standing can be fatiguing, too. Studies have shown that the more you sit, the shorter your life.

I also have a timer that prompts me to look away from the screen (to preserve my distance vision) and do stretches every 20 minutes, but sadly, I tend to ignore it.

The nice standing work stations are expensive, but probably a lot cheaper than the ill effects of too much sitting.

Hi Alon, I made a post along the lines of this subject a few days ago. Some the Treehouse staff members provided some helpful advice. Here's the thread if you're interested.

Thanks so much for linking to this thread!

Sure

I switched to a make shift standing desk by putting my laptop on top of a couple reams of paper on top of printer on top of kitchen counter, just to try it before I buy it. It's been great. After about 6 weeks my posture is better and I just feel all around better. I will be buying a real standing desk in the next 2 weeks. I highly recommend trying it!

Steven Worley, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm also considering this.
