Is there a place to download the workspaces html editor for personal use, or is it simply a treehouse program for students to use?

As far as I know it can't be downloaded. It's a web application.
If you want to work locally on your computer then you can get a text editor application like sublime text.
Sublime text was used in some treehouse courses before workspaces became available.
