Workspaces only in Tree house?

Is Workspaces unique to TeamTreeHouse.com ? Can workspaces be use outside of TreeHouse? I inferred form one answer Workspaces is unique and only usable to TreeHouse. So as long as I am a student I can use Workspaces? Thank you for your response.

Hi Dale! Yeah workspace is an unique feature of Treehouse...so if you want to work with files outside treehouse you should look for a text editor :).

Thank you. boy you guys respond really fast.

Yes, Workspaces is a product created by Treehouse. You may also want to look into other online text editors such as JSFiddle and Codepen, which are great because you can test code and share the link so others can fiddle with it as well.

When you are developing a project that is not part of a Treehouse tutorial I would suggest getting comfortable working locally on you machine with some installed text editor like Sublime Text.

Thank you. boy you guys respond really fast. I am only familiar with NotePad++. I will have to look up the other text editors you mentioned Erik. thank you again. I just notice the number of points you have Erik. Wow! How long have you been using Treehouse?

Np!

I have been using this website for just over two years, but this last year I have spent more time on the forums then with tuts so points have only been slowly incrementing :P

Just to add to what Julian Aramburu and Erik Krieg said, there are many web based code editors and development environments. A list of a few others can be found here http://www.awwwards.com/10-html-css-online-code-editors-for-web-developers.html .

Thank you Kristopher. I copied the information.
