Writing if statement this way?

Can you refactor the code for the if statement by combing the two statements into one, using the && operator?

You could combine "if" conditions when there are no alternatives ("else" or "else if" blocks). But in the case of the "BUTTON" test, the inner conditionals will be testing for several possibilities and responding to each one differently.
