Xcode and iOS Simulator preview bug

Hey guys so I've been following the objective-c course with building a simple iphone app in Xcode and when I go to preview the app with the play button the simulator opens but the preview itself is huge and off centered looking nothing like an iphone simulated app, I cant even move the simulator screen around to find the content in the previewer.

Ive looked around online and it looks like this is bug due to a yosemite update? I dont know how to work around this and if anyone has any info on how to make the ios simulator work properly I would be very appreciative.
