Z-Index and Overlapping Elements

Hi. I didn't see the z-index property in the course of CSS. Isn't that an important fundamental? or is it replaced with something else in CSS3?

I just realized that there are many solutions to the problem of overlapping elements and Guil mention one of them but I could not be able to delete this post. Sorry!
