Anyone else want to be on a e-learning team?

I watched the video on this post https://teamtreehouse.com/forum/youtube-video-how-i-made-8000-points-in-30-days not for the 8000 points a month but because i was searching for ways to stay motivated while using treehouse and other e-learning platforms. #7 on this list stood out to me, build a team. So I ventured out of my office, and started asking people if they wanted to learn coding with me. To make this short, I found nobody locally, so I started looking online joining IRC channels everyone on IRC at the time i asked was too experienced to start with learning from a beginners perspective at treehouse.

So I went to my wife and asked her, She is too busy with her photography stuff. I explained my situation, and she pointed out the obvious (which I often miss) she said "Why not ask the people on teamtreehouse?"

so here i am asking if anyone wants to collaborate, inspire, motivate and innovate with me? I will be using google services like google docs, hangouts, etc. I have also considered atlassian products to collaborate, so that is still an option. Let me know if you are interested! Thanks!

I'm definitely a bit ahead on the Treehouse curve, but this sounds like something very useful.

Do you want to have goals every week/month/couple months? Is there a project idea you have in mind (don't need to tell me on here)?

I am interested.

My personal goal is to become a full stack developer. Meaning, I don't plan on specializing in any technology.. So I am hoping I can build some dependable relationships with people who may be better at certain technologies. But that is after I develop a general knowledge of the technologies used today. I guess the ultimate goal is to have something that works kind of how a college alumni works. But first we need build on the knowledge.

Feel free to go to my treehouse profile and add me on google+ or twitter. or send me a message. (I don't use facebook) I also have tons of ideas for projects, that can be worked on in the future.

Hey Douglas, sounds like a great idea! However I am a programming newbie, which of course is why I am here (I know some html and css). I don't know where you are at with learning but once I get through some tuts, it would be good to hear your ideas.

That is great hear Aaron! The projects and ideas aren't really the main focus to the team. The focus of starting this team is to help one another get through the boring parts of learning this stuff. Most people get through college and gain higher understanding of subjects due to the social nature. When I went to college I had my brothers and was successful because of their help. My wife said she wouldn't have made it through college without her friend, nor her friend would have if it weren't for her. The main idea of the team is based on social learning, or a fraternity if you will without the hazing.

I'am interested. I feel the same way as you do with regards to motivation. Treehouse points don't really mean anything if you are not doing your own projects and getting stuck in. What do you have in mind?

I was thinking of taking an agile approach. However, I am open to ideas. With the agile approach it involves what is known as a stand up. This is where we briefly discuss what we have done since the last stand up. What our goals are to do get done before the next stand up. what we may need help with to reach our goal. and to add to that, what our motivation level is to get it done. (from 1-10) along with anything else that should be addressed.

so for example, "I finished git fundamentals on treehouse. My goal is to complete the php basics course. My motivation level to get this done is a 3. I may need help with understanding variables. Also, I have typed out my notes on the fundamentals of git so if anyone wants them please let me know and I will share them on google docs with you."

than someone might say, "I can help you with understanding variables" or "a 3 is kind of low, maybe if I explain the benefits of learning the basics of php with you it would help boost your motivation a little"

see just very brief check in.. that we can use to figure out how to motivate each other on a personal basis. when you make a goal, and you tell other people you will natually feel a bit obligated to complete your goal. If that makes any sense.

Would love to join! I definitely think this is a great idea. I think learning treehouse combined with this would make a newbie to expert. Where can I sign up ;)
