Treehouse TeacherWeekly Contests!
Hi everyone,
With the newly released forum features, we thought it might be fun to start having a weekly contest! This first one might be a little messy while we work out the kinks, but let's try it out and see how it goes. Here's how it will work:
Each new contest will be posted on Thursday. The contests will test your skills in design and development. Reply to this contest post with your entry.
Only entries that have been posted by the following Tuesday at 11:59pm ET will be eligible. However, you can start upvoting and downvoting contest entries as soon as they have been submitted. That means the sooner you submit, the better!
The winner will be announced each Wednesday and will receive some sort of prize (for these first few contests, it will probably be a special badge plus bragging rights). Then, another new contest will be posted on Thursday.
That's pretty much it! What do you all think?

13,027 PointsDead keen for this idea, following along with the projects featured in the video tutorials is great but, to me at least, it doesn't fully click until putting it into practice on your own - Hopefully these contests will encourage people to think creatively on their own terms on tasks that they wouldn't otherwise have tried :)
Good job!

Treehouse TeacherThat's the idea! We want to provide Treehouse students with as much practice as possible. :)

Treehouse Project ReviewerHmm... create a special "Forum Post" type called Vote? Maybe you get to decide on a "Vote" open date and "Vote" close date. Also, maybe start voting 2 or 3 days after the announcement of the challenge.

Treehouse TeacherThere's definitely an advantage to posting early. I like the idea of having a submission period separate from the voting period. I don't think we'll be able to do this in time for the next few contests, but I'd love to do this soon!

13,027 PointsAgreed with Ernest! Also, I noticed that the contest got buried away as more forum topics stacked up - some sort of "sticky" or separate access link may be useful in drawing extra people in to vote
