Weekly Contest: 90s Webpage

Yo dudes and dudettes,

It's time for our second weekly contest! Here's the dealio:

Create one web page using 2013 web technology but in the style of the 90s web guy. It could be, but not limited to, a product page, a company page, an about you page or even the 90s web guy's page. The more obnoxious the better. Want to use HTML5 Audio? Sure, why not?

Answer this post with a CodePen link to your entry. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, June 18th at 11:59pm ET. Sorry, but no replies submitted after that will be eligible. The reply with the most upvotes wins! The winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 19th. The prize for this contest will be a special badge plus bragging rights. :)

Here's a couple of examples of what an entry might look like:

Remember, these are just examples from halls of time. Go ahead. Be creative. Good luck, and may the best-worst page win!

For Extra Kudos: Make it responsive.

Note: If you have comments about weekly contests or would like to know more about how they work, check out this post.

Update: Derrick Mull wins this weeks contest! Congratulations on winning with your Back Street Boys 90s style website.

A tribute to "Clueless."

A site from my girly childhood dreams, and one from my adult nightmares: http://cdpn.io/yGgco

Went for a frames Spice Girl fan site! http://cdpn.io/GDaBI

Commented out the song! Apparently Codepen loads live previews, so if you are anywhere near it you get Spice Girls....Sorry CodePen!

This is what I most vividly remember of the Web in the 90s. I just looked up that the CSS Level 1 Recommendation was published by the W3C in 1996. Therefore not using any CSS seems historically adequate.

Yeah I had the same idea to create a 90's website using no CSS and revert back to the good 'ol <font> tags and tables to align website content.

My exact response!

There's a bootstrap for that ...

geo bootstrap. It's like geocities but it's responsive and built with bootstrap.

Ahahaha! I like it! I'll likely be taking a pass on this but look forward to see some 90's hilarity!

I've moved this to the General Discussion category. When the submission period is over, we'll move it over to another category that allows for voting (General Discussion has voting disabled).

That way, projects that are submitted early won't have a massive advantage over projects that are submitted last. Everyone gets a fair vote! :)

Perfect!

Thanks for listening :-)

So if I used 'Comic Sans' I would win?

I was going to do a "rickroll" lol but during my research I found that I am decade off that was in 2007 apparently.

What are you all talking about. That's how I make sites now :P

My wife saw this and said, "What, no one did any Flash, oh yeah it's because they are all on Mac's" lol
