What are MODs?

What are MODs? Are they Treehouse employees? And if not, how do you become one?

Mod is short for forum moderator, we are Treehouse students just like you.

In general in order to become a mod a Treehouse student needs to:

  • Have over 5000 points on their profile
  • Been a Treehouse student for over 3 months
  • Have shown their ability to be consistently helpful & engaging on the forum

You also have to be invited to become a moderator by Faye Bridge, a current Treehouse moderators can nominate other students to become moderators.

My own 2 cents about nominating new moderators is that I look at the number of forum points a student has, to be having over 100 in a single category is a decent indicator.

Thanks for the answer! Becoming a MOD is what I am aiming for!

Most mods are very friendly :)

So once you have over 5000 points you just have to wait for Faye Bridge to invite you?

You need to have enough points, spend a good amount of time on these forums, contribute to answering posts, and get noticed by either a fellow moderator or a member of the Treehouse staff.

Check out the How can a student become a Moderator for Treehouse Island thread from last month for a great discussion on becoming a moderator.

Hi Holt Hunter, it's great to virtually meet you! If you could shoot me over an email at faye@teamtreehouse.com, I'd be more than happy to discuss the process for becoming a moderator! Looking forward to hearing from you. :)

I would also like to be a MOD!

Hi Alf Karl! If you could please email me at faye@teamtreehouse.com, I can share our moderator guidelines with you! Looking forward to hearing from you. :)
