Database course covering stored procedures etc.

Hi

Are there any plans on a database course (MSSQL) intermediate covering more advanced queries, stored procedures, different functions etc.?

It would also be interesting with a database design course, with some best practices for designing a database.

Would really like a course regarding these things. Im very familiar with basic sql queries, reading data with selects, inserting and updating. But really want to learn more advanced SQL.

By the way, thank you for all these awesome courses. Treehouse is without doubt the best learning platform I´ve seen online! Lots of kudos to this community.

This is the reply I got from support.

Hi Jons,

Thanks for reaching out! We don't have any current plans to cover these courses, but with enough interest, it's definitely something we'd consider. We'll pass your feedback along, and be sure to check out our Roadmap for updates!

Best, Walter

Well, at least you've registered your interest, it may have some future inflence.

I don't think you can add tags after posting. But before posting, if you get to the forum by clicking the "get help" button from inside the course, the tags are added for you.

Someone asked a very similar question recently. Here's what I said then:

I looked in the Treehouse Content Roadmap and noticed that the next planned course for this topic is Reporting With SQL, scheduled for release this month (Feb 2016). I don't see anything else in the queue, so the next one is probably at least a month away.

A question with no subject tags like this one might easily be overlooked by the Treehouse staff. If you want to pose your question to them directly, try writing to Treehouse Support. Update this with what they reply!

Thank you for your reply, I looked at the scheduled course "Reporting with SQL", that´s an awesome course as well. And I´ll probably take a look at it and pick up a thing or two :)

Not quite sure how I add tags in the forum post, I´ll write a ticket to the support and hear :) Will be updating the post when I get an answer.

For what it's worth, I was just looking for something on stored procedures. I'd be happy (thrilled actually) with a primer on how they are structured and tips on reading them. As systems business analyst, this would be very helpful.

While this is not a Treehouse Course, I took this PluralSight course on Stored Procedures and it is very good. I've found it to be fun, but also educational. I have a coworker who is very knowledgeable about stored procedures and this course is covering even the "gotchas" that he mentioned. Start here if you want to learn them, at least until Treehouse adds some courses: https://www.pluralsight.com/courses/sql-server-database-programming-stored-procedures
