How can I become a forum moderator?

I would like to become a forum moderator. What are the requirements? Is there an application?

I feel that I have demonstrated the general requirements described in this post: How can a student become a Moderator for Treehouse Island?

Besides the great information and advice that's in forum post you provided; you can also contact Faye Bridge and express your interest in being a moderator.

Being a moderator is not all it's cracked up to be; this comes from a former moderator. You are very censored in what you can and can't say. Comments that may seem innocuous and undeserving of further attention can get your moderator privileges revoked. Just be sure to watch what you say and be very careful with the manner in which you deliver what you say.

Not being a moderator, however, doesn't stop me from helping out when and where I can. :)

I'm not familiar with your situation. I'm sorry you feel that way but I think you could of left the personal story out of your comment. The OP is interested in being a moderator and his original question was asking how to go about doing so. Your response isn't answering that question and your view is also very subjective.

I will speak my mind freely as I see fit. He might not become a moderator, and if anything, it is uplifting to know that you can still help without being a moderator. I hope he becomes one, of course, but my story is also a cautionary tale that you are limited in what you can say on the forums. As a paying member of Treehouse, I can say just about whatever I'd like so long as I'm not threatening or verbally abusing other users. I love Treehouse and will continue to help out.

I never said that you can't speak your mind but stay on track with the original question. Your original post had a very discouraging tone.

People should be aware that there are very strict guidelines for being a moderator, and that is what my post does. It ties in with the moderator topic.

Yes, I already realize that as a forum moderator I would be a representative of Treehouse -- and even the slightest hint of sarcasm, rudeness and/or negativity in a forum post would result in my moderator privileges being revoked. As a moderator, I would have to be mindful of what I say on the forums and I am willing to accept this responsibility and the other duties of the moderator.

Thank you both for your input.

It's not just those things that can get it stripped away, but you'll learn young Padiwan. =]
