General Discussion

How do I include Treehouse on my resume and LinkedIn?

I just started learning through Treehouse and I'm wondering how other people list their achievements/what they've learned through Treehouse on their resumes and on their LinkedIn profile.

I agree it should be implemented since long ago already

I put mine on right with my university and other MOOC classes: http://ryangallen.com/ryan_allen_resume.pdf.

Thanks! If anyone else does it differently I would love to hear about it or see an example of it!

I put a link to my coderbits profile on my resume. Here's an invite in case anyone hasn't checked them out yet this is my profile: RickRakin

Here's an invite: coderbits

This covers much more than Treehouse in one shot.

This is the first time I've heard of CoderBits. It looks awesome! I'm setting it up right now, and am even learning about different sites with services I'm interested in. Thanks for the suggestion, Richard!

You can also integrate into your degreed.com profile if you have one.

Whenever I finish a Lynda.com course I go to "Certificates of Completion" and there I can share my certificates to Linkedin perfectly. Why Treehouse team do not offer this?

Udemy has the same feature. Treehouse should offer this!

Added this post to my linkedin to display my teamtreehouse accomplishments

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/accomplishments-team-treehouse-brandon-wall

How exactly did you do this?

I'd also like to be able to push my completed courses and tracks to Linkedin as I do with Lynda.com, Coursera and other learning platforms.

Please, folks at Treehouse, think about it!

Thanks.

Treehouse, please allow functionality of sharing badges/certificates of completion on LinkedIn. I would like to share this valuable information. I know CodeSchool also allows this after completion of a course.

Any updates here? I would like to integrate my courses on LinkedIn Profile...

+1 Treehouse, please implement this!

TreeHouse, This has got to be one of the most requested features. Ken

Yeah I've asked like 2 months about about the status and no one of their team updated me... any updates here? Most of the people need this..

So here I am, I need this too, this would be a really cool feature to display skills on our Linkedin profiles, as it would be super nice for employers to see how we keep up with technology. Lynda.com does indeed offer this feature, however we're treehouse students and in my own opinion Treehouse offers better courses than Lynda on tech topics specifically.

Linked in has many of my professional contacts and allowing them to view my updated skills as I progress through treehouse would be beneficial to me.

wow this discussion started almost 3 years ago.

I'm not going to bother to add my Plus One. It's obviously a waste. I'm just going to say this: It appears clear to me that Treehouse intends NEVER to do this. Not only that, given the numerous threads on the topic which are YEARS long and the fact that there appears to be not one single solitary comment from ANYONE at Treehouse EVER, it seems they also intend not to discuss it or even to acknowledge our requests. Seems a strange sort of Code of Silence. I've had enough of that bs from people in my life. For now, I've added my Treehouse profile page as a personal website on my LinkedIn page. The last time I was faced with an adamant code of silence and refusal to take action on anything, it was my union in my former career path. It was due to the fact my union was impotent. Due to a technicality in umbrella organization rules, we had no power and the officers wanted to ensure management didn't learn that but they also kept it from all of us. Lest we quit and they be forced to replace us somehow. Bottom line, they didn't want us to know the truth. Treehouse, is there something you're keeping from us?

FYI everyone, adding completed treehouse tracks, courses, or badges can be done manually in Linkedin. Just add a new certification and complete the relevant fields. Treehouse is a registered provider, so an icon will appear when you enter their name. This type of certification is equivelant to the ones given through providers like codeschool. i.e. there are no liscense numbers or expiration dates. Perhaps the reason why treehouse has not responded is because it's not an official certification, rather it's a self certification that you completed the material. It's a nice feature on linkedin and looks official, but it's not an official certification without a license number.

That is pretty cool, but for courses it requires a number. Where do you get a course number from Treehouse?

You can put anything for the course number, such as the instructor, the subject, or the track containing the course. The number field is just a means of being more specific. The disadvantage of using linkedin to display completed courses is there is limit to something like 50. If you put the course as a certificate, there is no limit that I'm aware of. You can also clarify that the course is a set of verified badges which amounts to certificates of completion. It's nothing official and it should not be a make or break to getting a job, but it is neat way to show that you are an active learner of current trends.

I had my full stack JavaScript track completion with my degree but it didn't look right as there's no good ways to list it there. I've listed the courses I've taken through Treehouse in the "Courses" section but that's not very integrated. I was wondering if there's been any progress on the badge idea? If not, I'd like to add my voice to those requesting the feature as it I thnk it really would help a lot of people. Thank you.

So far I've found that adding my track completions to the skills portion seems the most appropriate to me. Also Iv'e started my own website not only for myself but also as a portfolio.

Duyen, the answer is the techdegree program. The certifications awarded may be included on your linkedin or resume.
