Hey Matthew. Welcome to Treehouse.

Honestly, if you are an absolute beginner, I strongly suggest completing the Digital Literacy Track before moving on to other courses, it's really a beneficial Track to complete for beginners.

As for your error, it looks like you seem to be typing in the console instead of the editor. Also, the url for your Workspace is private and unique to you. No one else can use it, so we can't see it. If you want to share your workspace, you need to take a snapshot (camera looking icon in top right corner of workspaces) and post the generated URL.

Keep Coding! :) :dizzy:

Totally agree with doing digital literacy track if your brand new. It makes everything make sense. Plus it doesn't take long. You'll also score some easy points to help motivate you. Good luck!

thanks so much jason, helped me heaps! :)

I don't know what's happening here, but this might be one possibility. I'm seeing the word Bash in your error. Which I believe is referring to a console program. In workspaces the top part is where you would type your code. The bottom part is the console. Your probably not supposed to be typing in the console at this point. I hope that helps, If not lets try trouble shooting some more. Let us know if you figure it out.

thanks John :)
